Comprehensive Upgrade of Communications Systems, Wi-Fi and Hotel Services
InfoTel Group, a leader in corporate communications and network solutions, has successfully completed a large-scale project to modernise the IT infrastructure at the five-star Biltmore Tbilisi Hotel. Located in the very heart of Georgia’s capital city, the hotel is an iconic landmark offering a high level of service to a discerning clientèle for whom reliability and quality of technology are paramount.
To implement this project, it was crucial to select a technology platform capable of ensuring the seamless operation of the hotel’s entire digital ecosystem. That is why Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) was chosen. A global leader in comprehensive hospitality solutions, ALE offers the best selection of modern, innovative solutions for premium hotels, with a host of advantages:
With all these benefits, the ALE platform is a solid tech foundation that can deliver top-notch guest service and efficient management of a hotel’s network infrastructure.
Rather than just being a Wi-Fi solution provider, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise is a comprehensive technology platform that fully meets the key needs of the modern hospitality industry. The ALE ecosystem integrates high-performance Wi-Fi infrastructure, OmniPCX Enterprise-based corporate telephony, network equipment and centralised management using the OmniVista platform. This approach ensures that the hotel has a unified space for digital services, ranging from guest communications and PMS integration to internal communications and network analytics. This provides hotels with a reliable, scalable and secure technological foundation for building modern services and improving guest service quality.
As part of the telephony modernisation project, the outdated Avaya Aura system was completely replaced with the state-of-the-art Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise (OXE) telecommunications platform, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise’s flagship solution. The entire equipment replacement process was completed without interrupting service for guests and administrative staff.
Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise (OXE) provided the hotel with:
The hotel’s in-room telephones were also upgraded at the same time, improving guest convenience and voice service quality
A key part of the project, aimed at improving the efficiency of internal operational processes, was the introduction of the TigerTMS integration platform, which enables proper data exchange between the hotel telephone system and the Opera Fidelio hotel management system.
The integration process included:
Integrating the telephony system into the Opera Fidelio hotel management system has greatly sped up staff workflows and improved the accuracy of internal processes.
Wi-Fi Network Upgrade: Upgrade to Alcatel OmniAccess Stellar Wi-Fi 6Wi-Fi is an integral part of any hotel and a key factor in the quality of guest service. Our company completely upgraded the Wi-Fi network equipment, replacing the outdated Aruba access points with innovative Alcatel OmniAccess Stellar access points supporting high-speed Wi-Fi 6 technology.
As part of the implementation of the cutting-edge Wi-Fi network, the following steps were taken:
The modernisation has provided guests with reliable, fast and consistent internet access in rooms, lobbies, conference areas and other common areas of the hotel.
“Our hotel has successfully completed a major technology upgrade to improve connectivity in guest rooms and modernise key communication systems. A key part of the project was the introduction of a new, high-performance Wi-Fi infrastructure in all guest areas using Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) solutions. Furthermore, we have migrated from our outdated PBX system to the new Alcatel PBX platform, which has enhanced the overall reliability of communications within the hotel. Together, these upgrades underscore our commitment to providing a modern, seamless and guest-centric digital experience.
For the Wi-Fi upgrade, we focused solely on guest rooms, as this is where robust and stable coverage is needed most. Here is what has been done:
Internet quality has noticeably improved. The connection has become more stable, the speed is higher, and activities such as video calls, remote working, and streaming are now performed without delays. Areas where the signal used to be weak or inconsistent are now fully covered, and guests are quick to notice the difference.
The system also supports a larger number of devices simultaneously, which is essential now that guests typically use multiple phones, laptops and tablets. From an IT perspective, OmniVista greatly simplifies monitoring, enabling faster notifications and prompt problem resolution. The new infrastructure is also ready for future upgrades with no need for major hardware replacements.
As part of the project, we replaced our old Avaya Aura PBX system with the latest version of Alcatel OmniPCX Enterprise (OXE). Upgrading the old PBX system has really improved call quality, and internal communication has become more reliable and easier to manage.
Overall, we are very pleased with the results. The new Wi-Fi system has improved the guest digital experience, and the PBX replacement has had a positive impact on day-to-day operations. These changes have significantly strengthened our technological infrastructure and helped us meet the latest hospitality industry standards.”
